Case Studies

We have been providing our specialist service to a young person’s project since the start of December 2016. At the beginning we were contacted to supply security for a weekend. The project was so pleased with our service, a far superior service when being compared to previous companies. They made the decision to use Stay Safe Security as a permanent solution. Due to our proactive approach and suggestions, the project now has regular internal and external patrols, sufficient external security lights and adequate protocols to deal with any new issues that may arise.

"We now feel safe, secure and supported."
Staff & Services Users

Upon exiting the building, a security officer asked a service user what he had been up to and where he was going. The service user told him what he had been doing and that he was about to buy some drugs. The officer then asked how much he was going to spend, £90 the service user replied. The guard then asked how long the feeling lasted for, around two hours said the service user. The officer proceeded to say you’re going to spend £90 for two hours, why not spend your money on something that will last, like a game or some clothes. The service user then headed off, the service user then came back with a carrier bag. Look at these said the service user showing the security officer his new pair of trainers.

"Thanks for your advice, nobody has ever put it to me like that."

““Stay safe security have not only giving me a job but a career. I enjoy coming to work as I can make a difference and the fact that I am helping people gives me total job satisfaction.”

After having good chat to the service user, he showed some interest in maths and numbers. I said to him it may be worth looking into jobs such as becoming an accountant. He explained he's done a book keeping course in college and he enjoyed it.

I asked what his thoughts were around continuing with further education as he may have a better chance to get a good job once he's finished his training and development.

I showed a website which gave all the information he needed to be a chartered accountant. After this advice and research, I took him to look for volunteering opportunities in Rotherham and Sheffield to get more experience in this field. He then decided to enrol in college and study accountancy.

"Without you guys I couldn't have completed all of this."

After engaging with a service user for a few months it was clear to see that he had a passion for football. We were able to use our links within the community to find a team. On his first training session we took him to the location of training, stayed while he trained and put in him the taxi when he finished.

"You guys found out what I liked and helped me do it, I cannot thank you enough."

We were asked to do some 1 to 1 cover for a high-risk service user. After building a rapport with the service user we noticed she was talented at drawing, so we asked her to draw a picture and write what she thought about the company:

Our officer noticed a car indicator flashing in the middle of the road on the CCTV monitor. Upon closer inspection, he saw a door was open and saw body language which indicated there was some sort of conflict. He rushed to the door and saw there was some commotion in front of the project. He shouted “what’s going on” causing the gang to flee in their car. The guards’ training and quick thinking had stopped a service user from getting seriously assaulted.

"If it wasn’t for the security, I was a gonner."

While I was doing my patrolling on site, I was talking to residents to make sure they were doing well and to let them know that if they needed any help, I'll be there for them.

The service user engaged really well with security staff and used to talk to me regularly. I asked him what he wanted to do in the future and what his plans were. He used to reply, "I don't know". So one day around March, I called him and I asked him if he was free to talk and he said yes. I invited him into the meeting room and I explained to him what i intended to do today to find out what education or training he was interested in.

I accessed a website called prospects.ac.uk which showed us all information, research and analysis vacancies to help him realise his ambitions and goals.

I asked him what he was interested in and he said he enjoys working on computers.

So I showed him job profiles for computer jobs, he also said he was interested in IT systems. I then explained what the responsibilities, salary, working hours, what to expect, qualifications, skills and work experience he might need. After the meeting he said he had a good picture of what he wanted do with his future and career.

I showed him how to apply for the courses in college and all the process.

In July time he had his interview to access a course in Rotherham; Access to HE Diploma Computing Level 3.

In September he stared the course and after few weeks he came to me saying:

"I'm so glad I had the meeting with you in March, this is the best thing ever I've done."

I replied whenever you need us just let us know and we be there for you.

Almost every time I saw the service user he used to tell me "I'm bored and I don't know what to do."

On an occasion I took him into the meeting room and I sat down with him.

I asked him what he wanted to do with his future in terms of work, he said he didn't know what he wanted to do, although he had given some thought to becoming a bouncer in a nightclub and bars.

I explained that to become a bouncer he needed to have SIA security training, once passed he could apply for the SIA licence. Once granted he would be ready for work.

He asked what he needed to do to achieve that.

I went onto the SIA security website and explained the all processes and he was happy to do the course.

I explained to him that if he was registered with the job centre, they would also be able to help you in relation to accessing the training but advised him to make an appointment to see the job centre advisor and discuss it further with them.

He managed to book the training and completed the SIA security training and he passed.

"I am grateful for you taking your time to help me, I felt as if everybody else gave up on me. I am going to work in a field I am interested in. Thank you."
